The band is fronted by brothers Mark (lead vocals/ songwriter SOCAN) & Sean Doney and consists of a group of veteran musician/ performers. The band has played large high profile venues and has played events featuring such artists  as Bill Anderson (Nashville recording artist & Grand Ole Opry  Alumnist), Carolyn Dawn Johnson, George Fox, Brad Johner, Diane Chase, Beverley Mahood & Lace, Gord Bamford, Dean Brody, Jason McCoy, George Hamilton IV, Tim Hus, Prescott/ Brown, Adam Gregory, Gary Fjellgaard, Valdi, Charlie Major, Ambush & South Mountain to name a few.

Their 2005 self-titled debut cd has received airplay across Canada on CBC Radio and on any number of independent and college stations. Combined, the first 2 singles "Thank God For The Simple Man "(Hillcrest 26/ September 2005 & Glory Train February 2006) & "One Lonely Night" (Hillcrest 28 & Hotdisc 85/ January 2006), have received a great deal of international airplay. The songs have hit the National charts in  The USA, The United Kingdom (#2), France, Spain,  Norway, Sweden, Australia,  Japan, Holland, Ireland(#5) & Belgium to date. Both tracks have also posted on both the ECMA & International Mainstream Charts.

The cd has received a very positive response from print & broadcast media alike. (to see the September 2005 Country Music News Review please visit the link below). In the 2 years directly following the release of their debut cd, the Doney brothers were mentioned in Country music magazines in Canada, The UK, Germany and Japan and they had done radio interviews with a number of radio personalities in Canada, Australia and the USA.

The following are some of the reviews that the band has received for it's debut effort:

Excerpt from the September issue of Canada's "The Country Music News"

The reviewer writes "The music has a rootsy, down home feel, that ranges in style from the early country/rock sounds of the Eagles to the more laid back feel of The Good Brothers"...

"Several selections stand out. One Lonely Night is a solid Country ballad complete with fiddle and steel accompaniment and theres a tasty Eagles feel to tunes like Summer's Gone and Katie"...

"There are a couple of neat changes-of-pace. I Will Be With You (Dark Isle) is given a Celtic arrangement and moves from a sawing fiddle into a fast paced fling. The main attraction on the album comes in the closing entry, Thank God For The Simple Man, an ode to Mark Doney's father and the influence he had on his life and his music"...

In 2011, Mark & Sean and their band NEON BLUE remain self-produced Indie artists (having recorderd the debut cd independently with a small budget consisting of  Mark & Sean's own money). Although the debut album has held up amazingly well compared to commercial recordings produced by the major record companies with much larger recording budgets, the guys continue to actively look at funding options for their upcoming second studio album . NEON BLUE continues to evolve in 2011, with Mark & Sean Doney remaining as the band's vocal core. The band looks forward to playing both large scale festival venues as well as smaller venues with a smaller 3 or 4 piece lineup of musicians. As the Doney's continue to add to their catalogue of original New Country songs, they continue the evolution of their sound, including the addition of great new player / vocalists to their already  rock solid New Country sound.

In 2011, Mark & Sean would like to thank the players and support personnel who have and continue to provide positive contributions to the band's live performances. Special thanks are extended to Randy Musclow, Scott Stewart & Rick Boyle (guitar, bass and additional vocals) and to Jess Hannah (sound tech).

To hear NEON BLUE in your area, please call your local Country station & request songs from the debut studio album (available to DJs free at www.airplaydirect.com).
